File Scanner
The File Scanner page (/admin/file-scanner-providers) lets workspace administrators configure file scanners for uploaded content and select an active scanner. Only admin users can access this page.
What a file scanner is for
A file scanner checks files that users upload to BasePeak.AI for malware and viruses before they are processed further. This makes it possible, for example, to protect documents that are added to knowledge sets (see Knowledge Sets). If no scanner is active, uploaded content is accepted without prior checking.
Provider overview
The page displays the available file scanner providers as a card grid. This is a fixed set of providers — providers can neither be added nor deleted. Providers that are already set up are shown first, with the rest sorted alphabetically.
Each card carries a status badge:
- Configured — the provider is set up and ready to use.
- Not Configured — no credentials have been entered for the provider yet.
- Error — a problem occurred with the configuration; the error message is shown on the card.
Configuring a provider
- Click the card of the provider you want, or choose Configure from the card's menu.
- In the dialog, fill in the fields under Required Configuration and, where applicable, under Optional Configuration.
- Sensitive fields are hidden. Use the eye icon next to a field to reveal and re-hide the value you entered.
- Click Save. The entries are validated automatically before saving; if the check fails, the message Validation failed appears with the associated detail, and the provider is not saved.
After a successful save, the provider's card receives the Configured badge.
Selecting the active scanner
In the page header, use Select Active Scanner to set which scanner is used. The selection list contains all configured providers as well as the None entry, which disables file checking. The currently active scanner is marked with a checkmark; the selection takes effect immediately.
Notes
Only providers with the Configured status appear in the selection list. Set a provider up first before you can select it as the active scanner.
